Long week

Gee what a long week. I worked 3 days in a row because I wanted time off while my dad was here. After those days I'm not sure it was worth it. I wanted to walk out on Wednesday night and never come back. But I want a place to live and food to eat so I went back. Thankfully it was a much better night. Erik had a "walk through" tonight for his game tomorrow. I sure hope they win. It sucks to lose all the time. I'm glad the weather is cooling off. It's reminding me what I like about Arizona. I just wish I could be a snowbird. Colin seems to be doing ok with public school. He says he doesn't like it but he has been coming home and talking about his day so that says alot. You know teens don't usually open up to their parents and boys are worse about talking than girls. Speaking of talking I swear Emma says hi to us in the morning when you first talk to her. She makes a noise that has an H sound, and then she becomes all smiles with legs going ninety to nothing. Gosh she's so stinking cute. Well enough ramblings about nothing for now. The picture of the week is Emma having her 1st driving lesson with daddy. I wonder if the smile on his face will be there in 16 years after the real lesson?

grandpa's visit

My dad arrived in town on Friday so the boys and Emma have been having fun with him and his wife Virginia. Erik's football game was on Saturday. They lost but they made the other team work hard for their points. We had double overtime. I thought the game was never going to end. It was much cooler than last week plus there was a nice wind blowing. Thank you God!!!!

Well after much debate we decided to put Colin back into public school. He wasn't wanting to do his work at home. Plus he had so much free time on his hands and all he wanted to do was be on the computer. He needed some socialization and it was much harder taking care of a baby and homeschooling than we thought. He's not very happy about it right now but I think he'll eventually enjoy it. He certainly won't have to do as many chores since he'll be gone more. So I took him shopping and let him pick out some clothes that he liked. I'm glad they fit in with what I thought was acceptable. So to all of my praying friends and family keep him in your prayers.

comparison of size

I was going through pictures and forgot how small Emma was. The first pic is of her at one week. The other is her at 4 1/2 months. What a difference. It's amazing how fast they grow. She discovers so many things in a day that it's astounding. Every day now she's getting better at sitting unassisted, she makes more sounds, and of course gets cuter. Well enough of my bragging.
I worked at the new hospital on opening day. What a NIGHTMARE!!! Well at least for the first few hours. I'm not so scared to go back tomorrow night. Patients were mad about the waits. Nurses were frustrated by the computer and not knowing where anything was. We flight evaced out first patient within the 1st 8 hors of being opened and a major car accident happened on the freeway just down the way from us. We didn't get any of those because we don't do trauma. We had 2 babies born before I got there at 3p. that I know of. Pretty eventful first day.
BTW the kid who got hurt at the football game Saturday just sprained his ankle. Thank God he didn't break it. Happy hump day everyone.

Erik's 2nd ball game at 106 degrees

WOW IT WAS HOT!!!!!!!!! Christine and Emma had to leave. It was just too darn hot to out there. I ( Vern ) set up the porta-shade and that helped a bit, but 106 you just can't get away from that. Sorry no pictures of the game. Being asst. coach is hard enough, them trying to take pictures....Yah right. LOL. So the big news, they lost, again. Erik still had a good time, and that is what is most important. One of my line men got his leg hurt. I pray it is not broken. From what we could figure it was his left fibula down about the middle. Pray it is just a sprain. Man it was hot!!! I just can't get over that.........
After the game Christine took the boys and Emma out for cold stone. I don't see what the big deal is. Ice cream is ice cream, aint it?
As I am typing this I am trying to get some more videos uploaded. Gawd, some of them take forever to upload. It'll be about 230 mb of video total. around 4 min...lol I'll have the videos posted in the video link section later today.

5 month birthday ( edited )

Miss Emma is 5 months old today. Doesn't she just look adorable? I think she's trying to grow teeth. She has been really cranky the last couple of days which is so unlike her. I need to get to the store and get some oral gel. Well don't have much time here. I've got to feed her and get off to work. Take care everyone. Hugs and kisses from us all.
Vern has gotten a video posted on google video now. Here is the link
EMMA IN HER WALKER
Emma is sitting in my lap watching me do this. I played the video and she just started to get excited when she saw it. How cute...

Emma's walker

We finally tried Emma out in her walker. She's not quite got the hang of it yet but she can push herself backwards. I just don't think it is purposeful yet. I tried putting video of it on her but ran into some issues and got frustrated so I quit. I'll try again another time. I couldn't get her to look at me because Vern was showing her the doggie door. I wish he wouldn't give her ideas I sure she's going to be onery enough with 2 older brothers.
Erik's next game is Saturday (15th) at AJHS at 2 pm. UGH!!! It's going to be so hot. I need to figure out what I'm going to do to keep us out of the sun. Anyone have any great suggestions? Well it's getting past my bedtime. I've gotta work tomorrow. Only 3 more shifts in our old hospital....Ciao

football game

Erik had his first football game last night. Our team lost but the one touchdown they did make was a 90 yard one. Pretty impressive. The poor kid was so tired by the time he got to the end he almost didn't make it. Erik says he had fun which is more important than winning. Although there are some parents who wouldn't agree. I can't believe how competitive it is. Erik is still a little hesitant to tackle people because he doesn't want to hurt them or get hurt. I told him to pretend that it's his brother he's tackling. We'll see how that works.

Discoveries

Emma discovered her toes yesterday for the first time. It was so cute. She looked so astonished that there was something she hadn't discovered yet. It won't be long till she starts chewing on them. No more polish on her toes for awhile. For those of you who didn't know she discoverd her thumb about 3 weeks ago. She mostly sucks it when she's hungry or tired. She'll put herself to sleep now because of it. Vern and I were worried at first about it but I googled it and the "expert" said most kids discontinue it around 9 months but it's not a problem till they're 4 or 5 yrs. It's so darn cute, how can you not let her.
For anyone who wonders why I don't write much about the boys or post pictures is because they don't discover new things everyday and aren't constantly changing. I will post pictures of Erik in his uniform on game day. My sister and her little girl are going to be visiting me in Oct. I can't wait, I haven't seen her or Tiffanee in 2 yrs. Too bad my nephew can't come also. Well everyone take care. Our love to all.

Labor day weekend

I've been meaning to write all weekend and have finally gotten a chance to do it. I hope everyone had a nice labor day weekend. Erik went camping with our friend Keith. He had a wonderful time. He loves the outdoors. The rest of us sat around the house most of the weekend. We did go to my friend Anjee's house for a bab-b-que on sunday afternoon. Her little boy Will is 3 weeks older than Emma. They were so cutewhen they saw each other for the first time. She was trying to grab his hand and eat it and he was fascinated with her hair bow.

Eriks' football is going well. He's starting to really enjoy it. His first game is Saturday evening. Colin's home schooling is doing ok. We get so frustrated with him because he's really smart but lazy. I keep trying to tell him that if he really applies himself he could possibly skip his freshman year (which he's worried about). He just rolls his eyes at me. I got him so proactiv because his acne is so bad. He told his friend that I got it because I was self conscious about it. I suppose I am to some degree. He's says he's not but I think he's not telling the truth.
